NIRAV

A simple life of stillness, nature, handpan, and beautiful people along the way.

HELLO

My name is Nirav (नीरव), a Sanskrit word meaning quiet stillness. It’s a name that feels very much at home in the way I live.I live as a contemplative with a deep appreciation for solitude and nature. Advaita (अद्वैत) is at the heart of how I live and experience life, and over time the handpan has become a natural expression of that through sound.

FROM STILLNESS
TO SOUND

When I sit with the handpan, the music simply unfolds in its own way. Sound arises from stillness, speaks a language without words, and gently returns to the stillness from which it came.Much of my playing happens quietly in nature, sometimes in solitude and sometimes shared with others. I also freely share the music in shelters, prisons, hospitals, and nursing homes. Wherever it’s shared, the music asks nothing of anyone. It’s simply an offering of a little peace, a little connection, and a quiet space to rest for a while in its wordless beauty. If you happen to find me playing somewhere, please feel free to stop and listen. You’re always welcome to stay as long as you’d like and share a little time with me.With love,
Nirav

Ekānta (एकान्त) is a Sanskrit word that means solitude and seclusion. Sometimes being alone can be peaceful and beautiful. Sometimes life gives us no choice, and that same aloneness becomes isolation and loneliness. The music on this album comes from Ekānta, from that space of being alone. Like being alone on an open sea with no control over where we’re going, there are times when we have no choice but to let go and allow ourselves to be carried by something much larger than ourselves.Ekānta is about solitude, stillness, and surrendering to the journey without needing to know where it leads.
